2005 Burgman 400 K4 maxi scooter, in the best colour, blue. Located in East Kilbride, ready to ride away, with MOT until 21st October 2014, and tax until the end of June. First £1200 secures it with all the listed extras.
It"s a roomy, very comfy scooter with a vast luggage capacity. It"ll hold motorway speeds all day without a fuss, or thread through traffic surprisingly well. 60mpg+ is easily achievable, with a tank range in excess of 150 miles, probably nearer 180 if you want to play chicken with the fuel gauge.
I bought it last year, changed the oil and filters immediately and it"s done less than 1,000 miles since then. I"ll happily do an oil change while-you-wait for the new owner. New rear brake pads went on 500 miles ago, and there"s plenty left in the fronts.
The rear tyre has life in it, but the front will need replacing fairly soon. I"d previously indicated that the front brake lever was soft, but I"ve now swapped in another master cylinder and bled the system out thoroughly. The "rear" brake lever engages Suzuki"s linked brake system on both wheels, giving stable progressive stopping power.
It"s been ridden through winter and in traffic, has picked some scuffs and scars, and a few pieces of paint have flaked off near the pillion backrest and been patched with Mr Hammerite"s best gloop. Set your expectations accordingly. If you want a mint example, a dealer will be happy to mug you for half as much again in return for a bit of scrubbing and polish.
However, you don"t see the character marks when you"re on it, and it"s an immensely practical vehicle, great at filtering through stop-start, and surprisingly strong away from the lights and on the open road too.
Extras are: a substantial luggage rack, a 2-helmet sized top box, and the Tucano Termoscud apron shown. This is a great bit of kit which adds to the already excellent weather protection to make riding in the cold or wet a pleasure rather than a chore. It doubles as a cover so you always come back to a dry seat, rolls back in seconds during our 5 minute bursts of sunshine, or removes in minutes.
Terms are cash or direct bank transfer: no swaps, PayPal or puppies. Anonymous emails and texts fishing for a price are being politely referred to the number at the top of the advert. If you"re a serious buyer, please come and view the scooter and we can discuss it face-to-face; I"m a very nice, reasonable chap, and can arrange viewings after 5pm most evenings.
You will be very welcome to a test ride on production of a motorcycle insurance certificate showing 3rd party cover for other bikes and with the full asking price in my hand.
As the Burgman is in daily use, the mileage is likely to go up a little.
